W-06: CDE Dyslexia Guidelines and School Psychologists
9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
The California Department of Education has developed guidelines regarding assessment, identification and intervention for students with dyslexia (AB 1369). This workshop will review those guidelines and provide school psychologists with critical information they need to know to effectively help their schools in implementing the guidelines. It is critical that school psychologists become knowledgeable about this disorder, how to fits into eligibility decision making, methods of assessment and how to decide on the best intervention.
Dr. Catherine Christo is a professor emeritus in the school psychology program at California State University, Sacramento. Her primary areas of interest are reading disabilities, assessment, response to intervention models, and the use of data for program evaluation and progress monitoring.
