R-14: Effects of a Self-Monitoring Behavior Contract on Blurt Outs in the Classroom
10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Results from a function-based intervention for a 7th grade Hispanic student with ADHD-like behaviors will be presented. Student presented with high frequency rate of blurt outs, at an average rate of 46% during a 15-minute classroom observation. Interviews, behavior rating scales, and classroom observations were used to determine function of behavior. Results indicated decreased average blurt outs to 6% in the classroom as evidenced by weekly classroom observations for a period of 6 weeks. Participants will learn how to develop and modify a function based intervention for a student with ADHD-like behaviors and blurt out behaviors in the classroom.
