R-05: Increasing Reading Fluency of an ELL Student with Repeated Readings, Phrase-Drill Error Correction, and Positive Reinforcement
10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
The current research project aimed at increasing reading fluency of a second-grade ELL student. An intervention package included repeated readings, phrase-drill error correction, and positive reinforcement. The intervention is currently being implemented. Current progress monitoring data indicates an increase in reading fluency as measured by words correct per minute. Attendees will learn how to design an academic intervention package with multiple evidence-based strategies focused on increasing reading fluency of a student in a one-to-one intervention format. Additional information regarding teacher consultation, intervention script, treatment integrity, and social validity will be presented.
