M-18: School Psychologists as Systems Change Agents: Utilizing Data to Improve School Culture and Climate

Given the increasing emphasis on creating and maintaining a positive school climate for overall student success, school psychologists need to develop their knowledge and skills in championing school-wide system change efforts. This presentation will discuss recent school climate research and policies, best practices for educational systematic change and strategies to engage in program evaluation of school climate reform efforts. At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to understand the importance of school culture and climate, understand the importance of school psychologists’ role in systems change and develop strategic plans to improve school climate based on data retrieved from research-validated tools.
