Race, gender and socioeconomic disparities continue to plague the American educational system. In today’s polarized political environment it is the responsibility of educators to provide checks and balances within our schools in order to ensure equity and access for all students. As such, school practitioners should have knowledge of history, background, myths and current laws surrounding this issue. School psychologists should practice inclusion and be informed of best practices and appropriate assessments when working with diverse populations.
