This paper seeks to understand the importance of self-care as it pertains specifically to graduate students enrolled in school psychology programs. Graduate students are often told to practice self-care, but without professional guidance, many are unsuccessful. As other professional skills are taught in graduate programs, self-care should be more explicitly presented, and students provided tools by which they can begin to practice meaningful self-care tactics that they can then continue on into the job as part of their professional competency.
