Schools are increasingly providing supports to address the social-emotional needs of students; however, research addressing the interplay between the rise of conditions like anxiety and depression as related to scholastic demands is currently lacking. This paper session will overview new research surrounding parent, teacher, and student perspectives on homework. Participants will: 1) gain an understanding of current research in these areas, 2) be given information on a newly developed scale designed to assess homework perspectives and social-emotional health, and, 3) be given best practice strategies to increase the parent-teacher communication partnership as it relates to academic demands.
