The California Department of Education has developed guidelines regarding assessment, identification and intervention for students with dyslexia (AB 1369). This workshop will review those guidelines and provide school psychologists with critical information they need to know to effectively help their schools in implementing the guidelines. It is critical that school psychologists become knowledgeable about this disorder, how to fits into eligibility decision making, methods of assessment and how to decide on the best intervention.
Dr. Catherine Christo, NCSP, is a Professor Emeritus in the School Psychology program at California State University, Sacramento. She has experience as a practicing school psychologist and as a Licensed Educational Psychologist specializing in the assessment of learning disabilities. Dr. Christo has published and provided training in the areas of response to intervention, progress monitoring, assessment and identification of and intervention for reading disabilities.
