This workshop will provide a detailed description of universal complete mental health screening and empirically supported implementation suggestions for practitioners. Practitioners are provided with concrete steps to conduct universal complete mental health screening. Key steps include: (a) identifying the objectives and participants of interest, (b) selecting screening instruments for implementation, (c) obtaining consent from parents/guardians, (d) administering the screener, and (e) following up with students, family, and staff after the screening has been carried out.

Dr. Michael Furlong is a professor in the Department of Counseling/Clinical/School Psychology at UC Santa Barbara. He is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association (Division 16, School Psychology) and the American Educational Research Association and serves as the Editor of the Journal of School Violence and a co-editor of the Handbook of Positive Psychology in the Schools (2009, 2014).
